Focus UAE

Dear Mr. Alabbar . . .

(Dubai, 25/09/2018) Dear Mr. Alabbar, this is for sure the wrong time to blow in the (wrong) nationalism trumpet.

Alabbar calls for 51% local ownership of UAE e-commerce-related businesses

While the UAE government is intensively developing a huge bunch of reforms to attract not only more people, but especially also Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) to develop the country which made also YOU big, you want to practice the roll-back in former times . . . sponsor "culture", nationalization of markets etc.

From a practical stand point, your opinion is CLEAR for us every time when we have to access EMAAR portal websites (frequently) from overseas . . . and fall asleep while waiting for the loading of a page, which takes several minutes. Means, with EMAAR you already prove your "national limits"? Congratulations.

Question: Did EMAAR grow with money, investments and property purchases from Nationals only???

But totally UNCLEAR is for us, how someone who registered and established his e-Commerce company in Saudi Arabia can claim to practice "national protection" for the UAE???

ONE LAST THING:
"I would never partner with any foreign e-commerce giant; not now, not ever. My goal is to protect the national economy from foreign companies.” (M. Alabbar, 24.09.2018)

And what about the partnership of noon.com with eBay? Ooooh, wait . . . maybe eBay is no foreign e-commerce giant . . .

Anyhow, we continue now waiting for the loading of one of your EMAAR community portals. To pay via that from international capital and funds Maintenance & Service Charges into something you reserved only for "national pride" . . . and feel again, like so often, simply duped and fooled by such nonsense statements.

Sincerely,
An international company,
definitely not a giant,
but also since nearly 15 years working, investing and spending in UAE,
feeling marginalized by such statements,
but happy to stand on many legs in many countries.
